Yemen Says Houthi Militia Poses Direct Threat to Regional Peace, Condemns Attacks on Gulf Infrastructure
Yemen has affirmed that the Iran-backed Houthi militia poses a direct threat to regional peace and security and to international navigation, saying the group is a tool used to undermine Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, disrupt basic services, and obstruct the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Maj. Gen. Aidaroos al-Zubaidi held a virtual conversation with the US ambassador to Yemen Steven H. Fagin on the latest developments in Yemen's humanitarian and political situation.
The talks went over the humanitarian developments in light of the continuing Houthi war on economic resources. In this regard, Maj. Gen. al-Zubaidi laid emphasis on the imperative of support the government urgently to enable it to offer the public basic services like electricity and water.
They also discussed the ongoing UN-led efforts to revive the political process to put an end to the conflict in Yemen and bring peace to the region, in spite of the persist terrorist Houthi eslation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab and the repercussions of that on the humanitarian situation.
Maj. Gen. Al-Zubaidi reiterated in this respect the Presidential Leadership Council’s support for the efforts exerted at the regional and international levels to bring about a sustainable peace.
He noted that it is illogical to talk about a road-map in light of the persistent Houthi threat to international shipping lines.
He called on the United States to intensify efforts to protect international shipping lines in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab and to firmly confront the Houthi tampering aimed at undermining the efforts made to end the war and bring peace in Yemen and the region.
They also discussed promoting cooperation between Yemen on the one side and the United States and its partners on the other to promote and enhance the capabilities of the security forces, especially the Coast Guard, to enable them to perform their mandate in securing regional waters and to contribute to confronting Houthi piracy against commercial vessels in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden.
Ambassador Fagin on his part renewed the Yemeni government's commitment to providing support to the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, enabling them to carry out the tasks assigned to them towards the public to bring about peace in Yemen.
