The Speaker of the Parliament Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani was briefed on the situation in Al-Mahrah Governorate as a result of the impacts of the air-depression, which caused significant losses and damages to public services, government facilities, properties, agricultural lands, roads, and infrastructure.

The air-depression also affected the eastern provinces of the country.

During a phone call with Governor of Al-Mahra Mohammed Ali Yasser, the Speaker of the Parliament listened to an explanation of the developments of the weather depression and the forecasts based on meteorological reports.

He was informed about the preparations in place to deal with all possibilities, the relief efforts, evacuations, and the work of emergency teams in various directorates affected by the new climate variables. He also discussed the readiness of local authorities to address the repercussions and the support and interventions required at various levels.

Al-Barakani emphasized the importance of government efforts and the need for swift action, directing a team of ministers to work from within the governorate to carry out the tasks and duties necessitated by the circumstances to address the effects of the rain and floods.

He called on regional and international relief organizations and agencies to urgently intervene to address the impacts of the weather depression and provide relief support to those affected by the floods and rain.

Al-Barakani praised the efforts of the local authority in al-Mahrah Governorate to mitigate the impacts of the weather depression and the measures taken.

He noted the development witnessed in various aspects of the governorate under the efforts made by the local authority led by Governor Mohammed Ali Yasser. He wished everyone's safety and prayed to Almighty God to protect the people of Al-Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Socotra, and the Yemeni people from the risks of sudden climate changes.

He also prayed for Yemen to overcome the current ordeal experienced by the Yemeni people and put an end to the escalating humanitarian tragedies caused by the Houthi coup, and for the return of peace, security, and tranquility to the homeland.
