Yemeni Ambassador to Canada Jamal al-Sallal discussed Thursday with Martin Larose the Head of the Middle East Division at the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs latest developments in Yemen and the escalation in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the region.

The two parties discussed also ways to enhance the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
Ambassador al-Sallal pointed out that the legitimate government has positively responded to the calls of the international community and supported regional efforts and the United Nations' endeavors to end the war and bring about peace based on fair and sustainable foundations in accordance with the locally agreed-upon references and regional and international support.

He expressed the Yemeni Republic's gratitude to the Canadian government for standing by the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership.

He renewed the invitation to Canada to contribute effectively to capacity building and development projects in Yemen and provide further support for the 2024 humanitarian response plan, appreciating the generous Canadian support to Yemen in the humanitarian field.

For his part, the Head of the Middle East Division at the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation, trade, and international shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

He reiterated his country's support for the legitimate government in Yemen and the efforts of the United Nations and the Special Envoy.
