Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and FisherySalem al-Soqatri held discussions today, Sunday, in the temporary capital Aden with the Resident Representative of the UN Organization for Food and Agriculture (FAO) Dr. Hussein Jadin over joint collaboration and the projects are being carried out by the FAO, particularly projects relating to livestock health in Socotra archipelagos.
The conversations also explored the possibility for establish a station for agricultural research and implementing projects to protect the valleys in Socotra Island.
On another development, the Minister discussed with the UNDP's team underway measures to carry out the planned projects in fishery sector.
The conversations focused on the technical studies about the project designed to repair fishing terminal in the area of Jahif in Aden.
The total cost of the project is $35 million funded by the German Bank for Development.
The discussions also touched upon the Sustainable Development of Fishery Farms in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The project is intended to repair 8 fishery unloading centers in several governorates. It is set to be carried out by the UNDP through Public Works Project and it is funded by the World Bank.
