Taiz Governor launches water project

Governor of Taiz Nabil Shamsan launched Saturday the Water Transporting Line Project, which will transport water from Jamal Street's well into tanks of Water Corporation.
The project is financed by UNICEF in cooperation with German Development Bank.
During the launching ceremony, which was attended by UNICEF's Resident Representative Peter Howkins, Governor Shamsan praised interventions of UNICEF supporting development projects in the governorate.
The project comes within efforts of finalizing linking city's wells with the tanks of water corporation and enhances efforts of pumping water to citizens to alleviate their suffering over the huge damages hit water and sanitation sector, said Shamsan.
" The Board of Trustees of Water Corporation will convene next week to approve a mechanism for pumping water to citizens regularly and providing necessary needs to extend water to their houses," he said.
For his part, the Director of Water Corporation Samir Abdulwahid pointed out that the project will transport water from Jamal Street's well to the transporting line of the corporation with support from UNICEF and German Development Bank.
He made it clear that the project serves 84 thousand beneficiaries and aims at improving water services in the city of Taiz.
