His Excellency President Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) received today, Tuesday, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg.

Mr. Grundber briefed Dr. al-Alimi on the outcomes of his recent communications at the national, regional and international levels and the required priorities to revive the political process, including the ongoing discussions about the guarantees for the cessation of the terrorist attacks of the Houthi militias in different fronts, putting the Yemeni people's interests above any others.

President al-Alimi has affirmed the commitment of the PLC and the government to fully support the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UN special envoy to revive the peace course in Yemen, alleviate the economic hardships that further exacerbated by the Houthi militias' terrorist attacks on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.

The Chair of the PLC also has reiterated the commitment of the PLC and the government to deal constructively with the efforts aiming to establish peace in Yemen that is based on the terms of the peace references that are nationally, regionally and internationally agreed upon, particularly the UNSCR 2216, which represents an ideal road map to achieve the Yemeni people's aspirations.

President al-Alimi restated that the UN's mediation need to focus on the actions and not the statements of the terrorist Houthi militias to verify the militias' seriousness when it comes to deal with the peace efforts, including the cessation of the militias' military escalation and terrorist attacks on the civil facilities and grave violations of the human rights, release all the detainees and end the militias' unilateral destructive measures that are seriously damaging the national economy.
