MASAM removes more than 435 thousand landmines planted by Houthi militia across Yemen
[04/04/2024 10:59]
RIYADH-SABA
MASAM Project's teams have succeeded in clearing Yemeni lands of mines, despite the risks they have faced since the project's launch in 2018 until now.

They have managed to remove more than 435,000 mines that were indiscriminately planted by the Houthi terrorist militias in various provinces.

The mines planted by the Houthi terrorist militias have caused deaths and serious injuries to children, women, and the elderly.
The efforts of the Saudi Kingdom, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center, have not been limited to the destruction of randomly planted mines.

Their white hands have extended to providing treatment for those affected by these mines through the launch of the "Artificial Limbs Program."

The program has provided more than 206,000 free services so far, including the installation and maintenance of artificial limbs, as well as technical and physical rehabilitation (physical and psychological therapy) for the injured.

This aims to restore smiles to their lives and enable them to become productive individuals capable of working and leading their normal lives. More than 56,000 individuals in the provinces of Taiz, Aden, Marib, and Sayoun have benefited from the limb centers during the period from January 1, 2020, to February 29, 2024.

The "Masam" project, along with the efforts of its workers, has also managed to protect hundreds of thousands of lives by clearing the provinces of random mines planted by the militias in various forms, types, and sizes.

On the occasion of the International Day for Mine Awareness, King Salman Center shares the international community and UN and international organizations in raising awareness about the dangers of mines.

It calls for enhancing efforts to combat them, protect oneself from them, and build the capacities of those working in this field in the impacted countries to alleviate the suffering of the affected individual
