The Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) has warned all citizens, financial and banking institutions and commercial businesses that they should never deal with or accept any falsified banknotes the Terrorist Houthi militias-controlled branch of the CBY in Sana'a said to be intending to illegally circulate.

The CBY issued its warning during the meeting of its board of directors today, Thursday, in the transitional capital Aden.

The CBY stated that circulating a falsified money to replace a legal one is considered to be an illegal action carried out by an illegal entity will further complicate the citizens' transactions and eliminate any endeavors trying to maintain the ongoing exchange of commodities and services among different governorates.

The CBY confirmed that such action is nothing but a means to plunder the financial assets of the financial, banking and commercial institutions and the fellow citizens through a faked and illegal banknotes.

The CBY noted that the solution to the crisis of shortages of banknotes or replacing the worn out ones lies in lifting the ban imposed by the Houthi militias on dealing with the national currency of its different categories and versions in all governorates around the Republic of Yemen. The CBY is going to do its legal responsibility to substitute any worn out banknotes with new ones, whatever its size and anywhere it may be in accordance with the legally stated mechanisms.
