Yemen welcomes adopted resolution for ceasefire in Gaza Strip

The Republic of Yemen welcomed the adoption of United Nations Security Council's Resolution 2728, which calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip during the month of Ramadan and leads to a sustainable cessation of hostilities in the sector.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed in a statement received by Yemen News Agency (Saba) that this resolution, although belated, represents a positive and significant step towards an immediate and sustainable cessation of hostilities in Gaza.
It is a response to the demands of the international community and all freedom-loving people around the world. It will work towards alleviating the catastrophe and human suffering of the Palestinian people.
The statement emphasized the importance of the Security Council fulfilling its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.
It called for an immediate, comprehensive, and sustainable cessation of hostilities in Gaza, the unimpeded entry of all humanitarian aid into the sector, and the prevention of forced displacement of Palestinians, both within the occupied Palestinian territories and abroad.
It stressed the necessity of holding Israel accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people, compensating the victims, and rebuilding Gaza.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude and appreciation for the efforts made by Algeria as an Arab member in the Council, and the elected group of states in the Council (E10) for presenting this resolution following the repeated failure of the Council to adopt a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza since the beginning of the Israeli barbaric attack on the sector on October 7th of last year.
It called for the immediate implementation of this resolution, in addition to all relevant resolutions, particularly Resolutions 2712 and 2720.
