Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Batheeb discussed with Head of the Office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Aden Mohammed Nasri humanitarian conditions in the country and interventions implemented by the organization in issues associated with illegal migration.
The meeting touched upon a number of issues associated with challenges facing the commission in addressing needs of refugees and displaced persons in the country, as well as reduction in supplies and its impacts on the commission's activities and its humanitarian operations.
Minister of Planning confirmed that the country is experiencing difficult economic conditions, deep humanitarian crisis and other issues. He pointed out to necessity of meeting urgent needs, pointing out that the number of the internally displaced persons has reached 4.5 million, in addition to hosting more than 71,000 refugees.
Batheeb reconfirmed necessity of helping the government by humanitarian partners under the deep gab between needs and humanitarian interventions and priority of needs during this period.
For his part, the UN official confirmed significance of enhancing cooperation between the ministry and the organization for working together for finding sustainable solutions to issues facing the country.
