Washington imposes sanctions against ship owners in Hong Kong for relations with Houthi terrorist militia

The US Department of State announced on Wednesday the inclusion of two ship owners and operators in Hong Kong and the Marshall Islands on the US sanctions list due to their relationship with a financial network affiliated with the terrorist Houthi militia.

The Spokesperson for the Department of State, Matthew Miller stated in a press release that "the United States has imposed sanctions on two ship owners in Hong Kong and the Marshall Islands for their role in facilitating the flow of Iranian financial aid to Houthi forces, and their ships have been designated as prohibited assets."

He explained that such aid "enables Houthi armed capabilities, including ongoing attacks on international maritime trade in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden."

The spokesperson affirmed that the United States will continue to use all available measures to disrupt the influx of funding that enables these destabilizing activities.
