Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Abdulrahman al-Mahrami was briefed on the progress of the power distribution works at the President's Power Station and the level of completion of the final stages of the project, which has a capacity of 120 MW and is funded by the United Arab Emirates.
This came during his meeting Wednesday with the technical committee responsible for monitoring electricity projects, which was mandated by a presidential decree in July 2022.
Al-Mahrami listened to a detailed report on the completed phases of the power distribution project, the challenges faced in previous stages, as well as the committee's monitoring results of the operation of the station at its full capacity.
The report included the components of the power project, which includes the installation of three new "132 kilovolt" substations in al-Huswah, Al-Mansoura, and Khormaksar, along with the construction of control rooms, overhead transmission lines, and underground cables for power transmission, totaling 18 kilometers.
It also involves the installation of transformers and all necessary accessories to ensure the efficient and complete operation of the substations and the power transmission system.
The project aims to transport the energy generated by the new station and deliver electricity to various areas in the temporary capital of Aden, as well as the governorates of Lahj and Abyan.
The technical committee's report outlined the project's components, the progress percentage in each stage, the quality and specifications of the materials used in the project, in addition to the timeline for the station to enter service, which began its gradual operation the day before yesterday, Monday.
