VIENNA-SABA
Ambassador Haytham Shuga'addin, Yemen's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Vienna, emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Yemen and the international community to enhance the capabilities of the Yemeni government and the Coast Guard Forces.
Enabling the government and Coast Guard Forces will play a significant role in ensuring the security of maritime navigation in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea.
This came during the launch of the report on combating illicit arms trafficking in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, as part of building and enhancing the capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard and Border Guard Forces.
The event was attended by the Head of the Coast Guard Authority, Brigadier General Khaled Al-Qummali, and the Commander of the Border Guard Forces, Brigadier General Abdullah Abu Hatem.
Ambassador Shuja'addin praised the cooperation between Yemen and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, emphasizing the importance of expanding the scope of support to assist Yemen in facing the challenges posed by the ongoing escalation of terrorist Houthi militias and their continued attacks in the Red Sea.
He highlighted the full support provided by Iran to Houthi terrorist militia, which has led to militarized the Red Sea, posing a threat to international navigation, security, and stability in Yemen and the world.
