Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Abdul Rahman al Mahrami stressed that Ministry of Defense must double down efforts to improve the armed forces' capacities so as to be qualified enough to contribute effectively toward protecting marine navigation and shipping lanes.
His remark came during his discussions today, Sunday, in the transitional capital Aden, with the Minister of Defense (Lt Gen) Mohsen al-Daeri over the plans and programs of the Ministry of Defense to develop the capacities of the military institution.
Houthi militias' increasingly growing threats to international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and the armed forces preparations to contribute actively to the protection of maritime shipping lanes were key focus of the conversations.
