ADEN - SABA
Minister of Defense (Lt Gen) Mohsen al-Daeiri appealed to the EU member states to contribute toward controlling Iranian weapons smuggling to the Terrorist Houthi militias in order to secure maritime navigation and civilian shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
He made his appeal during his conversations today, Monday, via video conference, with the heads of the diplomatic missions of the EU member states to the Republic of Yemen.
General al-Daeri affirmed that the Iranian weapons have continued to be smuggled from Iran Bandr-Abas seaport to Hodeidah directly, enabling the militias to seriously threatening international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The Minister of Dense called for building-up the capacities of the internationally recognized Yemeni government's armed forces so as to enforce its control over all the Yemeni territories." This is the best guarantee to secure maritime navigation and shipping lanes", said al-Daeri.
The EU diplomats confirmed that the EU's "Space Operation" is a defensive oriented, intended to protect the EU's oil tankers and commercial ships, and it is temporary.
