Minister of Transport Abdel Salam Humayd has warned that Houthi hostilities in the Red Sea could lead to catastrophic environmental impact including pollution and destruction of marine life.

In a meeting devoted to discuss his Ministry's and its affiliated units, bodies and institutions activities and accomplishments of last year and plans for the current year, the Minister addressed the challenges and hazards brought about by Houthi attacks on vessels sailing in the Red Sea, and Bab al-Mandab Strait, as well as the Arabian Sea, the latest of which was the attack on Rubymar ship.

He stressed the gravity of the consequences for the Yemeni economy and port activity in the liberated areas most as supply chains for food, oil, and other stape commodities will come under strain.
