Al-Eryani condemns lifting judicial immunity from Judge Abdulwahab Qatran
[13/02/2024 07:57]
ADEN-SABA
Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Muammar al-Eryani condemned the so-called Judiciary Council affiliated with the Houthi terrorist militias for lifting the judicial immunity from Judge Abdulwahab Qatran after (40) days of his abduction from his home and his forced disappearance in one of their prisons.

This action was taken due to his positions, opinions, and criticism of acts of piracy and militarization of the Red Sea.

In a press statement, al-Eryani explained that these practices once again confirm the exploitation of the Houthi terrorist militias of the events taking place in the region and their claims of supporting Gaza, in order to suppress voices opposing them and condemning their corruption, criminal practices, impoverishment policies, and starvation imposed on Yemenis.

He pointed out that the Houthi militia carries out campaigns of suppression and persecution against political and civilian leaders, journalists, media professionals, human rights activists, trade unionists, and activists in the areas forcibly under its control, with the aim of terrorizing them and preventing them from conveying the truth to the public opinion and dissuading them from adopting the issues and demands of the people.

This is a criminal act and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law.

Al-Eryani called on the international community, the United Nations, the UN Special Envoy, and human rights organizations to condemn these criminal practices and exert pressure on the Houthi militia to stop its attempts to undermine the independence of the judiciary and infringe upon judicial freedoms.

They use regional incidents as a tool to settle scores, suppress and terrorize its opponents, legitimize its crimes against civilians.

He demanded classify it as a "terrorist organization" and dedicate efforts to support the government in restoring the state and imposing its control over the entire Yemeni territory.
