TAIZ - SABA
Governor of Taiz Nabil Shamsan held talks today, Monday, with the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Yemen Hans Grundberg over the humanitarian situations and the ongoing peace efforts.
Shamsan detailed Mr. Grundberg on the extremely tough humanitarian situations and the populations' unspeakable suffering due to chocking besiege imposed on the governorate by Iran-allied Houthi militias for nine years.
The governor implored the UN's envoy to make opening the roads a top priority in order to allay the peoples' prolonging agony because of the closure of the highways.
" Roads opening has become an increasingly grown humanitarian need amid the recent developments in the Red Sea that further increase the costs of goods transportation due to the besiege and the militias' persistent attacks and constant escalation in different flashpoints" said Shamans.
The UN's Envoy expressed his concerns about the escalation in the Red Sea that have negative impacts upon the humanitarian situations in the governorate and the ongoing peace good offices aiming to achieve peace.
