Permanent Representative of the Republic of Yemen to the UN Office in Vienna Ambassador Haitham Shuja'addin held discussions today, Tuesday, with Director of Borders at the UN Bureau charged with Drugs and Crime Allan Kull over bilateral collaboration between the Yemeni government and the UN to control drugs and crime.
Shuja'adding highlighted the need for active partnership between the internationally recognized government and the UN's Office through supporting the capacities of the Yemeni coast guards in order to enhance the maritime navigation safety, control smuggling businesses, crime and drugs.
The conversations also touched upon the implications of the military escalation in the Red Sea and the terrorist Houthi militias' persistent threat to the international shipping lanes.
The UN's official has affirmed the UN Office's support for the Yemeni legitimate government's efforts to build the capacities of the Yemeni coast guards so as to do their job efficiently.
