Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Moscow Dr. Ahmed al-Wohayshi met today, Tuesday, with the Head of the Middle East Directorate at the Russian Foreign Ministry Kinshak Alexander.
The meeting aimed to discuss Yemeni-Russian bilateral ties, the latest developments in Yemen and the Houthi militias' attacks on the commercial ships and the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The two sides stressed that it is very important to secure international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and the region and to support the internationally recognized Yemeni government's institutions and capacities to do so.
Al-Wohayshi also stated that he is looking forward to further Russian cooperation about extending visas duration for a number of the Yemeni students at the Russian universities.
The Russian official underscored the importance of securing the freedom of maritime navigation and the international trade routes in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
He also reiterated Moscow's support for the efforts of the special envoy of the UN to reach peace in Yemen to end the Yemeni people's suffering.
