President al-Alimi discusses with UK Foreign Secretary regional developments

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, along with Member of the Council Dr. Abdullah al-Alimi, received Wednesday UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron, discussing with him latest national and regional developments.

The meeting touched upon mutual relations between the two friendly countries and means of enhancing them in different domains, and UK needed support to improve Yemen's economy to alleviate suffering of Yemeni people over Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia's war on the country.

President al-Alimi and Member of the Council Abdullah al-Alimi put the UK Minister in the picture of the latest Yemeni developments, including efforts of peace chances led by the UN on the bases of results of Saudi Arabia efforts amid Houthi terrorist militia's continuous escalation hindering these efforts.

President al-Alimi praised efforts of the United Kingdom as the President of Security Council term and its positions supporting Yemeni people, their political leadership and their rights of regaining state institutions, security, stability and development.

He and member of the council talked about the real background of Houthi terrorist's militia attacks on international navigation corridors in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden and their deep repercussions on goods supply, which are deteriorating living conditions of Yemeni people.

President al-Alimi warned of dangers of continuous influx of Iranian weapons and smuggled funds to Houthi and terrorist organizations in line with them against international peace.

He stressed importance of transferring international approach and interacting with the Yemeni file into more firm penalties against the reckless militia and firm implementation of the UN resolutions, especially Resolution 2216.

He reaffirmed that implementing the international resolutions and supporting the internationally-recognized government must be the sole choice to secure international navigation and regaining portal cities, which the militia uses them as launching pad to threaten navigation security and international peace.

He confirmed keenness of the Presidential Leadership and the government on consultation and full coordination with the United Kingdom and the international community to limit sub-impacts of designating Houthi militia a terrorist organization and ensuring influx of goods and continuation of services.

He also confirmed government's commitment to freedom of movement of relief agencies with the commitment of supporting all initiatives aiming at realizing just and inclusive peace to Yemeni people.

For his part, Minister Cameron confirmed continuous support of UK government to efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government for regaining state institutions and continuing humanitarian and developmental interventions in all fields.

Cameron also confirmed his country's keenness on the security and stability of the region, freedom of international navigation and support of UN envoy's efforts for releasing an inclusive political process meeting aspirations of all Yemeni people.
