Riyadh – Saba
Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received the Assistant to the Administrator of USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) Sonali Korde and the United States Ambassador to Yemen, Steven Fagin.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between Yemen and the United States Agency for International Development, the projects required in a number of vital sectors to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people caused by the terrorist Houthi militia, and coordination mechanisms to mobilize international support for supporting the government’s efforts to maintain economic stability in light of recent developments and continuation of the reform program.

They also discussed national and regional developments, efforts to bring peace and the obstacles it faces from the Houthi militia and its continued escalation at various levels, including its repeated attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, in addition to coordination mechanisms so that humanitarian and relief work is not affected by the decision to reclassify the Houthi militia as a terror group.

Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik stressed that the US decision to reclassify the HouthiS as a terrorist group needs to be a subject of international consensus after exhausting all possible options, and the militia's insistence on blocking all peace efforts and exacerbating the suffering of the Yemeni people, pointing to the government’s complete keenness to ensure the decision does not affect the relief and humanitarian activities and that the government will use various mechanisms to ensure this, and is committed to every track to end the suffering of the Yemenis.

The Prime Minister renewed the government's full support for the humanitarian work community as the Houthi militia continues its actions against relief agency employees of American and British nationalities, and the provision of all facilities for humanitarian work from the temporary capital, Aden, and the liberated governorates.
