[25/01/2024 05:05]

RIYADH - SABA
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi received the Ambassador of France to Yemen Catherine Corm Cammon.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them, and the latest developments in the political and humanitarian situation and the prospects for peace in Yemen in light of recent developments.

Al-Alimi praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries, and the clear and advanced position of the French Republic in understanding and approaching the roots of the Yemeni issue and its repercussions, looking forward to a more effective European role in various fields.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi addressed the developments related to the repercussions of the terrorist Houthi militias targeting the security and safety of navigation in the Red Sea, stressing that these actions led to multiple repercussions, including those directly related to the Yemeni people through the shortage of food supplies they caused, which increases the suffering of the Yemenis and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

He renewed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to a comprehensive and just peace approach, and supporting all sincere efforts to end the human suffering caused by the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime, whose irresponsible actions undermine the chances of peace that are now looming on the horizon, stressing that without supporting the government to restore control over all state institutions, especially weapons, the Houthi militia will remain a source of danger that threatens the security of the region and the world.

He emphasized the position of the Council, the government and the Yemeni people to condemn the continuation of the brutal and unprecedented aggression by the Israeli occupation forces against the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which has so far claimed the lives of thousands of civilians and wounded thousands others.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and work to implement an immediate ceasefire and allow the entry of humanitarian aid without obstacles.
