Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed Bin Mubarak discussed with the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg the latest developments in Yemen and the repercussions of the escalation in the Red Sea on the UN-led peace efforts.
Minister Bin Mubarak touched on the escalation of the terrorist Houthi militias inside Yemen, especially their threat to target UN planes heading to Marib and the planes coming to transport stranded people from Port Sudan to Mokha, and the repercussions of this on the work of organizations in Marib and the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Yemeni government’s support for the United Nations efforts to achieve peace in Yemen in accordance with the approved terms of reference, most notably Security Council Resolution 2216, stressing the need for the international community to reconsider dealing seriously with the Houthi militias, which have taken violence and terrorism as an approach to undermining regional and international security and peace. .
