GENEVA - SABA
Yemen participated in the 154th session of the Executive Office of the World Health Organization held in Geneva, Switzerland, represented by a delegation headed by Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh.
The session discusses health issues of interest to the organization, in addition to appointing regional directors for the organization’s offices in the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, and the Western Atlantic, and the health priorities of member states.
In a speech, Minister Buhaibeh touched on the priorities of the health sector in Yemen, and the challenges it faces in light of the Houthi militias’ continued coup against the government, their economic siege of the country’s capabilities, their summoning of new crises affecting the economic and humanitarian situation, and Yemen’s continued exposure to crises of internal displacement and external migration affecting the health sector.
