HRW: Houthis, Israelis share war-crimes against civilians
[21/01/2024 06:24]

ADEN - SABA
Human Rights Watch (HRW) organization described Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militias and the Israeli occupation forces as two facets of one single coin in terms of the illegal blockade imposed by the Houthi militias upon the population of the city of Taiz, the third largest Yemeni city and the Israeli occupation on the residents of the Palestinian city of Gaza.

Both the Houthis and the Israelis prevent the delivery of water, food and humanitarian aids to the inhabitants of Taiz and Gaza.

The HRW issued a report in which it noted that while the Houthis have drawn the headlines for launching missiles attack against the civil ships and their crews in the Red Sea—which may amount to war-crimes—they do say that they're going to keep on doing so until Israel lifts its illegal blockade on Gaza, however, Houthis' long-standing blockade on Taiz has hardly drawn slight attention, if any.

The HRW touched on the extremely catastrophic situation the governorate of Taiz has been experiencing since the Houthis imposed their besiege upon the central city of Taiz in 2015.

It reported that there are four out of five water basins in Taiz are located in the Houthi-controlled areas or in the flashpoints of the conflict that make it is very difficult for the residents to access water supplies. Moreover, the Houthis are in control of two basins and they have already stopped water follow to the population of the city of Taiz who are living in the government-held areas.

The HRW said" Unless the Houthis lift their blockade on the civilians in the city of Taiz, their claims to show moral stance against the blockade imposed by Israel on Gaza—which is exposing the Palestinian civilians to grave danger constitutes war-crime—the Houthis' claims will only be meaningless as long as they are illegally besieging the third largest city in Yemen".

The Houthis and the Israelis alike are breaching the laws of war when they prevent the civilians from water supplies and other basic services. The two parties should immediately stop obstructing water, food and humanitarian aids delivery to Taiz and Gaza.
