An agreement was signed here today to implement a project on rural access to education in the governorates of Hadhramaut, Shabwa, Al-Mahra, and Lahj, with a bilateral contribution from the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the Aoun Foundation for Development, in the presence of the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waed Badhib, Minister of Education Dr. Tariq Al-Akbari and the General Supervisor of SPDRY Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber.
The Saudi program was represented by its Assistant General Supervisor, Engineer Hassan Al-Attas, while the Aoun Development Foundation was represented by its executive director Dr. Abdullah Othman
The agreement, which was signed at the program’s headquarters in Riyadh, aims to train 150 female teachers to work in the countryside and obtain a “higher diploma” in the Hajar and Al-Sum districts in Hadramaut Governorate, Sayhut District in Al-Mahra Governorate, Habban District in Shabwa Governorate, and Al-Waht District in Lahj Governorate.
The project is meant to contribute to increasing girls’ education rates in the countryside, as well as to contribute to reducing the rate of illiteracy in the countryside among girls.
