Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Major General Salem Al-Soqatri chaired an expanded meeting here today with representatives and directors of fisheries sector to discuss the mechanism of operation at the fisheries sector.

The Minister stressed the importance of continuing to develop the mechanism of work in the fishery sector, in light of the decisions taken by the Ministry in 2023 AD to confront the economic challenges facing the country, with the aim of assessing the negative results and working to address them in order to benefit from the positive controls to implement them in the year 2024 AD, with the aim of determining its priorities are to reduce fish prices, as it is a food commodity whose purchasing power must be within the reach of community members at acceptable prices.

Minister Al-Socotra stressed the necessity of activating the legal regulations governing wholesale markets and local markets, which is considered one of the tasks of local authorities in the governorates.
