British ambassador says Houthi attacks on international shipping undermine Yemen's security

The British ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif said Houthi attacks on international shipping and their illegal seizure of the MV GALAXY LEADER undermine Yemen’s security, particularly Yemen’s food security, with 80% of food imported through Red Sea ports.
In a statement to Saba, she said, "Continued threats to international commercial shipping will ultimately restrict the availability of food as commercial shipping will not risk their vessels and their crew. Insurance costs of shipping have begun to increase and will drive up food prices and increase humanitarian need."
She said a critical part of the journey towards peace is Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue.
The Yemeni people must be able to determine their nation's future.
She said the role of women is also pivotal to the peace process. And that vWomen's perspectives, experiences, and voices are integral to building a comprehensive and lasting peace.
Yemeni women must be empowered as active participants to shape the peace they so rightfully deserve.
