Minister of Water and Environment Eng. Tawfiq al-Sharjabi, discussed today, Saturday, with the Deputy Director-General for Operations at the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) Oguchi Daniels aspects of cooperation and joint coordination to manage the challenges of migration and displacement due to climate changes.

The conversations which took place on the sideline of the UN Conference on Climate Changes (COP28) held in Dubai aimed to explore ways to further boost cooperation between the Yemeni government and the IOM to handle the increasingly growing challenges of the internally displacement due to climate changes and influx of the migrants from the African Horn countries to Yemen.

Al-Sharjabi highlighted Yemen's need for international assistance to build resilience, adapt to climate change and address internal displacement in the country in cooperation with the UN, Yemen's partners and donors.

The UN official confirmed the IOM's keenness to work closely with the Yemeni government to address the causes of displacement , migration and support vulnerable communities and the livelihoods of migrants and displaced people.
