US announces about sanctions on an Iranian financing network for the terrorist Houthi militia
[08/12/2023 02:12]
WASHINGTON-SABA
The United States of America announced that it has imposed sanctions on 13 individuals and entities responsible for providing tens of millions of dollars' worth of foreign currency resulting from the sale and shipment of Iranian goods to the terrorist Houthi militias with the support of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

The US Treasury Department said in a press statement "The complex network targeted by the Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions includes exchange companies, companies in multiple jurisdictions, and individuals working as an important channel through which Iranian funds reach (Iran’s) armed partners in Yemen".

For his part, Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Brian Nelson, confirmed in a statement that the Houthis are still receiving funding and support from Iran, and the result is not surprising: unprovoked attacks on civilian infrastructure and commercial shipping, disrupting maritime security, and threatening international commercial trade.

It is worthy to be noted that this came after the administration of US President Joe Biden removed the Houthi terrorist militias from the terrorist lists on which Washington had previously included them.
