[07/12/2023 01:42]
Riyadh - Saba
Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi discussed with the US envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking , the dangers of the Houthi escalation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, and the piracy behavior practiced by the Houthi militias against commercial ships passing through the international shipping line.

Mechanisms for confronting the Houthi escalation, and ways to expand cooperation and coordination with brotherly and friendly countries to enhance maritime security and protect navigation lines in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab, were also discussed, side by side with regional and international partners.

Major General Al-Zubaidi renewed the Presidential Leadership Council and the government's condemnation for these terrorist behaviors that threaten the security and safety of international shipping lines, and endanger security and peace in the region, noting that these hostile practices by the Houthi militias represent a direct threat to food security in Yemen, and double the repercussions of the humanitarian crisis, which resulted from its senseless war on the Yemeni people.

The two sides reviewed developments related to the political process aimed at ending the war and bringing peace to Yemen, where Major General Al-Zubaidi renewed the support of the Presidential Leadership Council for the efforts made by the brothers in the coalition countries led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the efforts led by the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to reach a comprehensive solution to the crisis, stressing the importance of having a serious political process that addresses the central issues causing the conflict, at the forefront of which is the southern issue.

In turn, the US envoy stressed the importance of joint cooperation and coordination to enhance maritime security and protect the international shipping line in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden... reiterating his country’s government’s position in support of the political process led by the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to end the conflict in Yemen and its position in support of the cohesion of the Leadership Council.
