The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)has affirmed its full support for the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) headed by Dr. Rashad al-Alimi to achieve security and stability in Yemen through reaching political settlement in accordance with the GCC's Initiative, its operational mechanism, outcomes of the National Dialogue and the UNSC's resolution 2016 to maintain sovereignty of Yemen, its unity and territorial integrity.

In the final statement of its 44th Session held in Qatari capital Doha, today, Tuesday, the GCC welcomed the sincere efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to achieve an inclusive and permanent political solution in Yemen.
The GCC reiterated its support for the UN-led efforts by its special envoy to Yemen Mr. Hans Grundberg and the good offices by the American envoy Timothy Lenderking to realize a political settlement.

The GCC appreciated the efforts of the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Yemen to renew the truce in line with the proposal of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia declared in March 2012 to bring the Yemeni crisis to its end, establish cease-fire and reach a comprehensive political settlement.

The GCC called on the UN's Envoy to take a firm stance toward the Houthis' practices that are in contradiction with the UN's efforts and countries of the region to establish peace in Yemen.

The GCC welcomed the Security Council Resolution 2707 dated November 14, 2023, in which it reaffirmed the commitment to Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, renewing the measures imposed under Security Council Resolution No. 2140, extending the asset freeze and travel ban measures in Yemen until November 15, 2024, and renewing the mandate of the Panel of Experts until December 15, 2024, in addition to emphasizing the provisions of Security Council Resolution 2216, as well as the decisions of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level (32nd regular session) and the Jeddah Declaration of May 19, 2023, which renewed the emphasis on supporting everything that guarantees the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen .
