Yemen participated today in the meeting of the thirty-ninth ministerial session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), held in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
Yemen's delegation was headed by the country's Minister of Industry and Trade, Muhammad Al-Ashwal.
The meeting, which was opened by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the presence of representatives of member states and institutions affiliated with the organization, discussed a number of economic issues for OIC member states, a report on the COMCEC strategy and the OIC plan until 2025, and intra-OIC trade.
The meeting focused on enhancing the role of the private sector in economic cooperation, deepening financial cooperation, improving the transportation and communications sectors, developing a sustainable and competitive tourism sector, increasing the productivity of the agricultural sector, sustaining food security, implementing poverty alleviation programs, as well as cooperation in digital transformation and preparations to exchange views on improving e-commerce capabilities.
