PM: Water problem in Yemen is major issue that must be dealt with

Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik stressed that the water problem that has existed in Yemen over the past decades always remains the main issue that must be dealt with and strategic solutions must be thought about, especially with the emerging and unexpected threats resulting from climate change.

This came when the Prime Minister attended a discussion session organized by the World Bank, today, Monday, on the sidelines of the 28th Climate Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to present the results of a study on resilience to climate change and water security in Yemen: challenges and opportunities for a different potential future.

Dr. Maeen AbdulMalik pointed out the government’s keenness to develop emergency plans to quickly and effectively address the worsening water problem as it is a national security issue for Yemen and a real threat to Yemeni generations, and its aspiration to support its partners, especially in the World Bank, brothers and friends, to confront climate change and the fragility of water security, and to provide protection for people.
