Aden - Saba
The National Enquiry into Allegations of Human Rights Violations heard testimonies and first-hand accounts from women victims of gross and dangerous human rights violations, in conjunction with the international campaign to combat violence against women.
The collective hearing session, which was held in the commission's office in the temporary capital, Aden, targeted (25) women from the governorates of Aden, Lahj, Hodeidah, Taiz, Sana’a, and Ibb, who were subjected to serious human rights violations that affected their basic rights guaranteed in international charters and national laws.
The women provided detailed testimonies that reflected the gravity of the violations that included targeting residential neighborhoods and women’s environments protected under international humanitarian law, which led to severe injuries and mutilation of their bodies and limbs, and forced displacement that imposed on them a life of homelessness and destitution.
