Second Symposium on Yemeni-Chinese relations starts deliberations in Marib

The Second Symposium on the Yemeni-Chinese Relations kicked-off its discussions today, Saturday, in Marib governorate.

Some 35 scholars and researchers from different Yemeni governorates are contributing to the two-day discussions with working papers about the political, economic, developmental, social and humanitarian relations between Yemen and China as well as the Chinese role in supporting the chances for peace and the Saudi mediation efforts.

In his opening remarks Deputy Governor of Marib Dr. Abd-Rabbu Meftah hailed Yemeni-Chinese relations as historic, robust and fruitful, pointing out to the increasingly growing roles and influence of the People's Republic of China at regional and international stages.

" We're looking forward to see China playing greater role in bringing about peace in Yemen due to Beijing's relations with Tehran that give China significant leverages on the Iranian regime to press for peace in Yemen", said Meftah.

He emphatically stressing the importance of establishing a robust economic and development partnership with the People's Republic of China as it has become a global economic superpower seeks mutual interests with its partners, supports security, stability and the role of state's institutions and governments of the partner countries.

The Charge'd Affairs of the embassy of the China in the Republic of Yemen Chu Ch'ing contributed to the opening session via video conference, voicing his pleasure to see this symposium held for the second time, describing it as an important action to further boost the relations between the two friendly countries.

Mr. Ch'ing reiterated China's political, economic, development and humanitarian support for Yemen.

The Chinese diplomat also reaffirmed Beijing's support for the Political Leadership Council, the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the regional and international efforts to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.
