Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Governor of Marib governorate Sultan al-Erada highlighted the importance of protecting Yemen's cultural herniate, historical sites and cities, arguing that it is a national duty relating to the identity and the history of the nation.

"All authorities in charge of protecting Yemen's cultural heritage, antiquities and historical sites and citied are urged to devise plans and coordinate efforts to protect the country's historical legacy", he said, adding" Our country has got a very rich history, cultural heritage and unique topography, these are promising potentials for tourism, we should turn them into economic assets".

His remarks came as he attended today, Saturday, the conclusions session of a three-day consultative gathering organized here in Marib city by Marib local authority and Ministry of Information, Tourism and Cultural.

For his part, Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammer al-Eryani stressed that the protection of antiquities is not only a national responsibility but also a favor for the entire humankind.

" All efforts need to be joined to protect our treasures that have been seriously threatened at present by Iran-backed Houthi militias which seeks to erase our identity and civilization in addition to that our antiquities are subject to looting and destruction by the terrorists groups or the negligence", said al-Eryani.
