Member of the Presidential Leadership Council General Sultan al-Eradah received Tuesday representative of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Yemen Maya Amira Tonja and Director of the organization's office in Aden Mohammed Rafeeq discussing with them the difficult humanitarian situation in Marib.

He discussed with them the role of the organization in alleviating severity of the humanitarian crisis over Houthi terrorist militia's war on the people.

Member of the Presidential Leadership Council reviewed the complicated humanitarian crisis over continuous displacement waves, the economic situation and reduction of financing assistances, as well as increasing needs outdo abilities of the government and the local authorities in facing them after Houthi militia's recent terrorist attacks on oil facilities.

He praised the humanitarian role of the UNHCR in Yemen in general and in Marib in particular and the need for greater role to meet huge needs in different domains, including livelihood, economic stability, healthcare, education, water, shelter and others.

He emphasized necessity of transferring from transferring from emergency assistances into sustainable solutions and focusing on projects of early recovery and development in accordance with transparent plans.

For her part, the UN official thanked Member of the Presidential Leadership Council and local authority of Marib for their firm support to the displaced people, including providing protection and facilitating efforts of humanitarian partners.

She confirmed commitment of the organization in giving Marib priority as key province that hosts the biggest number of displaced people in Yemen in addition to big number of refugees from the Horn of Africa.

The UN official called upon all development agencies and international financial institutions, including World Bank to stand with Marib Province to help it overcome current difficult humanitarian situation.
