Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, and the acting chief of International Organization for Migration IOM mission, Matt Huber discussed today strengthening cooperation and joint coordination efforts to confront the influx of migrants from the Horn of Africa, and the appropriate tackling mechanism for the issue.
The meeting touched on developments related to the problem of immigration and migrants, statistics on arrival and voluntary return, in addition to the urgent and medium measures taken to prevent the problem from worsening.
The two sides agreed to implement a number of measures, the most important of which is working to create a temporary response center outside the temporary capital, Aden, for illegal immigrants, raising the pace of work and encouraging voluntary return and combating smuggling, and preparing and arranging talks between the relevant countries, leading to holding a regional conference under international auspices and the necessity of developing a solution.
