Amman – Saba
Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, met today with the Vice-President of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Princess Dana Firas, on the sidelines of the Sabaean Forum, which was held in the Dead Sea region of the Kingdom of Jordan in its twenty-fifth session of archaeology and inscriptions in the Arabian Peninsula.

In the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the cultural field, and ways to strengthen fraternal relations and continue coordination on issues of common interest.

Al-Eryani touched on the need to develop opportunities for cooperation in the field of training and preservation of Yemeni antiquities, and to exchange experiences through joint workshops devoted to discussing means and methods of protecting antiquities that are at risk, whether by destruction, looting or smuggling.

He pointed out the systematic destruction, looting and smuggling that Yemeni archaeological sites have been subjected to since the coup by the terrorist Houthi militia affiliated with Iran, whether by this militia or gangs colluding with it, pointing to the efforts made by the Ministry to recover the looted antiquities.
