Japan's Government announced Sunday providing two grants to Yemen, the first one is for the Project of Banning Oil Leak from Safir Tanker and emptying it with an amount of USD one million and the second grant for the Project of Rehabilitating Urban Roads in the transitional capital of Aden with the amount of USD three million.
The Japanese Embassy in Yemen said in a two releases that the Japanese Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Shino Mitsuko exchanged with the Under Secretary General of the United Nations and Director of the Regional Office for Arab Countries in the UNDP Abdullah al-Dardary, exchanged notes on 16 September 2023 in the Headquarter of UNDP in New York for financing the Project of Banning Oil Leak from Safir Tanker and emptying it with the fund of 141 million Japanese Yen ( USD one million).
The Charge D'Affaires of Japanese Embassy in Yemen exchanged notes in Riyadh with UNOPs Representative in Amman Mohammed Othman on 71 September 2023 for financing the Project of Rehabilitating the Urban Roads in Aden with the fund of 422 million Yen (3 million USD,) said the embassy's releases.
The embassy pointed out that through the Project of Banning Oil Leak in Safir Tanker, necessary equipment will be provided to install the alternative establishment, which received the transferred oil from Safir Tanker, and banning environmental damages and international economic losses.
Meanwhile, the Project of Rehabilitating Urban Roads in Aden aims at improving access to the main establishment in the city and the weakest urban societies, including internally displaced people, said the embassy in the release.
The embassy reconfirmed commitment of the Japanese Government's pledges on continuing active cooperation with the UN and concerned countries to realize peace and stability in Yemen.
