[15/09/2023 02:22]
Geneva - Saba
The Permanent Representative of Yemen to the European Headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Dr. Ali Mujawar, participated in the meetings of the Standing Committee of the World Health Organization.

The committee listened to a detailed presentation on the current public health situation in the world, focusing on the consequences of the covid-19 and the outbreak of the infant polio virus, in addition to the ongoing challenges in responding to smallpox.

In his speech at the meetings, Ambassador Mujawar touched on the reason for the return of the polio virus to spread in Yemen after the Yemeni government succeeded in eliminating it in the year 2009.

He pointed out that the reason for the spread of new cases in the areas controlled by the Houthi militia is due to the stubbornness of the Houthi militia who propagate malicious propaganda to prevent and prohibit vaccines, which leads to permanent suffering for infected children and their families.
