The Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Nezar BaSoheib participated today, Thursday, in the Sixth Regional Review gathering of the International Conference on Population and Development (ESCWA) which concluded its deliberations today in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

The two-day meeting, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) dealt with a number of issues in the Arab region most notably development, humanitarian crises, climate unrest, population growth, violence against women, health services, reproductive health, and other social issues.

Dr. BaSoheib cited difficult circumstances in Yemen, the challenges and complications resulting from the war conditions and the Houthi militia's coup against constitutional legitimacy in late 2014.

He also touched on the state’s efforts to deal with population issues including unemployment, poverty, the problem of the displaced peoples and women's empowerment.
