Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik held a meeting with the head of the European Union mission and the ambassadors of the European Union countries accredited to Yemen, and discussed with them developments in the situation on the national scene, in the political, military, security, humanitarian and economic aspects, and European positions in support of the Yemeni government to overcome the existing challenges.
The meeting, which was held via videoconference, reviewed the coordinated international and regional efforts to advance efforts for a political solution and peace in Yemen, and the corresponding intransigent attitude of the terrorist Houthi militia, and coordinated positions towards that, in addition to the success of efforts to save the Safer oil tanker and spare Yemen, the region and the world an environmental disaster.
The meeting discussed proposals to strengthen the European Union's interventions in Yemen in economic growth sectors such as agriculture and fisheries, as well as sustainable social protection programs and livelihoods, and coordination with the government in this aspect.
The Prime Minister briefed the European ambassadors fully on the problems facing the government and its vision to deal with them, including the Houthi economic war and what is required of Yemen's partners at this critical stage to support the government's efforts to alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people.
He indicated that the terrorist Houthi militia has no real intentions to alleviate people's suffering, and they use the humanitarian issue as a tool of political blackmail and to reject all proposed solutions to the conflict.
Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik stressed the need for previous experiences with the Houthi militia to be present, otherwise this militia will continue to use any negotiations to achieve quick gains, as they did in the armistice and the issue of opening roads as a humanitarian necessity, and before in the Stockholm Agreement, and complicating any opportunity to move towards a comprehensive political settlement.
