Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik received in the interim capital, Aden, today the UN Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, and his accompanying delegation, who are currently visiting Aden.
The Prime Minister was briefed by the UN delegation on the program of their visit to Yemen, and the joint cooperation between the government and the UNDP to enhance the areas of coordination between the government in various interventions, in addition to the subsequent steps after saving the Safer oil tanker, and the signing of an agreement to reduce the cost of insurance for risks with international insurance companies, which leads to a reduction Insurance fees for commercial ships in the ports of the liberated areas.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik welcomed the visit of the delegation of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and his appreciation for the role played by the UNDP in leading the efforts to save the Safer oil tanker, which were crowned with success with regional and international support and the private sector, and spared Yemen, the region and the world an environmental disaster that would have cost billions of dollars, pointing out to the efforts made by the government in cooperation with the United Nations and the international community to overcome many political, security and financial challenges to accomplish the rescue mission and neutralize this danger, and its vision in post-rescue management and the transfer of all oil from Safer tanker to an alternative tanker, in order to remain completely safe and ensure that it is not used by the terrorist Houthi militia for extortion.
The Prime Minister pointed to the importance of completing the agreement to reduce the cost of risk insurance with international insurance companies, based on studies and risk assessment prepared by experts from the United Nations Development Program, and its reliable role in reducing insurance fees on commercial ships in the ports of the liberated areas, which is reflected in the humanitarian and economic situation.
