The Arab Ambassadors in the People's Republic of China have briefed the Chinese Foreign Ministry on the latest developments in Yemen and Iran's continued support to the Houthi rebel militia.

During a meeting between the Arab ambassadors accredited to China and Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs at the Chinese Foreign Ministry Deng Li, the Yemeni Ambassador to Beijing Mohammed Al-Mekhlafi presented the latest developments in the Yemeni crisis and Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Yemen through its support for the Houthi armed rebels.

He, however, cited the gains that the Yemeni army backed by the Arab Coalition achieves in different fronts.

He said that the Iranian support to the armed rebels politically, materially and with military experts and ballistic missiles constitutes a violation of the United Nations resolutions, which ban such support to the rebels.

He said that Iranian ships have repeatedly been seized in the Yemeni coasts transporting arms, boat-bombs and naval mines for the coupist Houthi militia.

He said that the Iranian embassy in Sana'a has become a command center for the Houthi military operations and the building is used by Iranian experts and loyalist militiamen and is also used as a store for weapons despite the fact that Yemenis diplomatic ties with the Persian state have been severed since 2015.

He expressed Yemen's appreciation of the Chinese government's commitment to supporting the legitimate leadership, the unity, sovereignty, and security and stability of Yemen. He also thanked China for its assistance and economic and humanitarian support to Yemen.

The Chinese official made clear the his country's government understands and respects the efforts of the Arab states to preserve peace and stability of their member states, including Yemen. He also indicated that his government advises Iran to deal properly with Arab countries to achieve peace and stability in the region.

He also confirmed China's support to the efforts of the Yemeni government and the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Yemen to peacefully resolve the Yemeni crisis.
