The United Arab Emirates has sent two airborne aid cargos to Socotra in the aftermath of the Cyclonic Storm "Mekunu" that hit the Arabian Sea archipelago.

Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation conducted two flights on Saturday and Sunday carrying more than 70 tons of food for the people affected by Mekunu across the islands.

As soon as the Emirati aid arrived on Saturday, the Higher Committee for Relief Aid began distributing the aid to the affected people in the district of Qolonsiya and other parts of Socotra.

The archipelago's local authority appreciated the efforts of the brotherly UAE in providing assistance in these exceptional circumstances that Socotra is going through.
