Prime Minister Receives Indian Ambassador, Stresses Need to Convene Joint Committee

Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Shaya Zindani received Indian Ambassador to Yemen Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan on Tuesday to discuss ways of strengthening and advancing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries across various fields.

The meeting also reviewed developments on the national, regional, and international levels and addressed issues of mutual interest.

Both sides underscored the importance of convening the Yemeni-Indian Joint Committee at the earliest opportunity in order to activate existing agreements, promote economic, trade, and investment ties, and explore new avenues of cooperation that serve the shared interests of the two friendly nations.

Dr. Zindani reaffirmed the government's commitment to deepening its partnership with India, building on the longstanding historical ties between the two countries, enhancing existing mechanisms of cooperation, and identifying new opportunities in key sectors.

He also expressed appreciation for India's supportive stance toward Yemen and its commitment to maintaining bilateral cooperation under various circumstances.

For his part, Ambassador Khan reiterated his country's determination to further strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation with Yemen and expand economic, commercial, and investment partnerships between the two nations.

He also expressed India's hope that the Joint Committee would convene soon and that its outcomes would contribute to broadening bilateral cooperation and opening new prospects for coordination and partnership.
