Prime Minister: Establishing Security, Improving Basic Services Are Gov't's Top Priority

The Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Shaya Zindani presided over the meeting of the Council of Ministers held today, Sunday, in the temporary capital Aden.

The meeting devoted to discussing the political, security, economic and service-related situations as well as to addressing the challenges and the government's priorities.

The Prime Minister stressed that it is very important to establish security, stability and improve basic services.

" The file of security and basic services are the government's top priority at this critical stage", he stressed.

Dr. Zindani described the assassinations of the Acting Executive Director of the Social Fund for Development Wissam Qaid and the Director of al-Nawras Schools Abdulrahman al-Shaer, as a warning bell that there are troublemakers are seeking to undermine security, stability and trust in the government and national institutions.

The Prime Minister reassured the international partners and organizations that the government is committed to protect the workers in the development field.

Such incidents will never not deter the government from continuing development programs and normalizing conditions; rather, they will make it more determined to establish security and the rule of law, he asserted.

The Council of Ministers directed the Ministry of Interior and the relevant agencies to double security and intelligence efforts, enhance coordination with local authorities and judicial bodies to consolidate security and stability and prevent any disruptions that affect citizens' lives or hinder their daily interests.

The Council of Ministers approved funding for the establishment of the market system, which aims to enable the Ministry of Industry and Trade to monitor markets accurately, provide a comprehensive view of price movements, availability of goods, stock levels and economic risks, thereby helping to build effective economic policies based on reliable information.

The Cabinet approved the model agreement for industrial tuna fishing in the area of competence of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission in the high seas outside the exclusive economic zone of the Republic of Yemen with fixed revenues.

The Cabinet also approved the memorandum of understanding signed between the Yemeni Ministry of Transport and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, submitted by the Minister of Transport.

The Council of Ministers reviewed the draft memorandum of understanding between the Republic of Yemen and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for cooperation in the agricultural field, and the memorandum of understanding between Yemen and the Sultanate of Oman for cooperation in the agricultural, animal, and fishery fields, as well as in food and water security. The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries is authorized to sign them.
